Day 49: To Marathon, Tx

55 miles (89 km) - Total so far: 2,091 miles (3,365 km)

We got a slow start this morning, having a real roof over our heads. Slowly we got our gear together, had some waffles and got on the road. It was around 11 by the time we really got going. We rode into headwinds all day long, so the 50 or so miles didn't go as quickly as it could have. We rolled into Marathon looking for La Loma del Chivo, a hostel tha let's cross-country cyclists stay for free. This place is awesome. The dwellings are made of concrete, paper, and pearlite. They have solar panels, a windmill, woodstoves and an organic garden going. All the buildings are super unique and very cool. Plus its free. We hung out down at the Famous Burro, a local restaurant, and had a few drinks to relax after the long day. We have a shorter, 30 mile or so day planned tomorrow to get to Alpine.
