Day 34: To Hempstead, Tx

57 miles (92 km) - Total so far: 1,437 miles (2,313 km)

When we left the campground last night, we saw a bunch of cyclists on the road. Turns out they were on a training ride for an MS150 bike ride. We rode the same route they were going for awhile, and it was definitely some good training, not stop hills. We kept seeing them pass on the other side for the first 10-15 miles. All the people we kept meeting kept asking us if we were also training. We said "no, we're riding to California." They never quite believe you at first.
Anyway we stopped in a cafe for lunch in Anderson. By this time Sara had made the decision to rent a car in Navasota and drive to Ryan's Aunt's house, then drive home in the morning. So we got to Navasota and parted ways for a few hours. We continued riding lots of hills on route 6, which turned out to be like a major highway. We finally got to his Aunt's around 5. She had tons of food and drinks for us, just what we need. She also made a spaghetti dinner. We got showers and space to sleep inside. We're definitely taking a rest day here, and with rain in the forecast, we may end up taking 2.
