Day 31: To Kountze, Tx

40 miles (64 km) - Total so far: 1,280 miles (2,060 km)

We are here in Kountze, Texas, sleeping in a gazebo outside of the public library. We got into Kountze around 4, and after a few requests for a place to pitch a tent, the police directed us across the street to the library. As Ryan would say, "free ninety-nine." Works for us.

The day started of cold. We stayed under a pavilion so our stuff didn't accumulate the same layer of frost as everything else. But when the sun started shining, we started getting dripped on from the roof's condensation.

When we finally got riding, it was great. Slight wind, more wide shoulders, and beautiful skies. We made it to Silsbee before 1. Then we ate at the Taco Bell/KFC combo. We hung out there til around 2 so Sara could take a business call. Then it was back on the road to see where we'd end up. Within a mile, Sara's tire was hissing, so we pulled off and she changed it, I think her second flat of the trip. By this time the winds had picked up, and the 10 miles to Kountze was all we wanted to do.

We went and hung out at the grocery store for awhile, which had a seating area. Now we are all cowboy camping in the gazebo.
