Day 8: To Youngstown

62 miles (100 km) - Total so far: 380 miles (612 km)

So let me start off by saying today was a failure for pictures.
1. We changed time zones, thought I'd see a sign. Nope.
2. Saw the coolest bike sign that someone drew panniers and racks on, while riding down a hill at 20+.
3. Went over a pretty cool bridge, but it was 2 lanes with no bike lane or shoulder.
So I only have 3 pictures to share.

This morning was absolutely frigid. And the sun was out all day. But last night must have gotten pretty chilly cause we were seeing frost on the grass as we headed out. We stayed on 20 pretty much the whole day, except for the last 6 or so miles when we finally hit 231 to start heading south. 20 was mostly nice riding, decent shoulder, quiet traffic, lots of woods all around. Near the end of it though, shoulder disappeared and traffic increased. We kept almost getting hit by these big logging trucks. Not that much fun. For lunch we went to this great mexican place. Had two enchiladas, a quesadilla, and a beef taco. About 10 miles later, we stop at a general store to get Carol a Coke. Only she doesn't have her wallet anymore. She forgot it at the mexican place. Now Carol was stopping for a Coke because she was getting a little sluggish, so there's no way we're riding the 20 mile round trip to get it. She tries hitchhiking for a bit, but no luck. Its not looking good. Then someone suggests she calls the sheriffs station, so she does. About 20 more minutes of waiting and a cop shows up with said wallet. And that was the excitement for the day.
Right now we're in this cheap motel (read: expensive dump) because the forecast is calling for rain, and if its right, I don't want to pack up a tent in the rain and let it get all nasty inside.

Panama City tomorrow, rain or shine!
